Varandey Fixed Offshore Ice-Resistant Off-Loading Terminal
Year: 2006
Number: 1
Total weight: 14,000 ton
It had taken 15 months, from late March 2006 to July 1, 2007, for the Kliver yards to construct the Varandey fixed offshore ice-resistant off-loading terminal weighing about 14,000 ton. The terminal operates in the Barents Sea. It is included in the Guinness Book of Records as the northernmost oil terminal operating all the year round. It is worth mentioning that, while loading the substructure of the terminal on a barge, the worldwide record was established for the number of SPMT axles used.
